A nine-year-old boy who gets into everything, a bit of a nerd, David is always trying to fit in with the cool people, though usually only accepted because “he’s the minister’s son.” His insight into some situations inspire progressive change.
Sociology
He’s growing up in a middle-class home that has all the amenities of the 70s. But his parents hardly indulge and typically limit his freedom to explore adventures they think are influentially sinful. This means hanging at his buddy’s house just to watch TV or sneak to the movies.
Psychology
David is bratty and adventurous; he also has a level head. His simple ideas make sense, sometimes helping, and other times causing issues. His curiosity is always getting him into situations and schemes where his initial selfish ambition is turned sideways to help a neighbor. He is learning a lot.
Series Arc
In case you haven’t guessed, the story is told through David’s point-of-view. As he matures from age nine, some of the spectacular ghost stories recalled, morph into more mature themes.
